All Points West ’09…

How could they remove Jack Johnson and somehow still have a more disappointing lineup than last year. Does anyone here even have a new album other than YYYs?
Here’s the lineup, strike-throughs indicate bands I’ve seen already and don’t need to pay $90 to see again:
Friday, July 31: Beastie Boys, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Vampire Weekend, The National, Fleet Foxes, MSTRKRFT, Q-Tip, The Pharcyde, Organized Konfusion, The Knux, Ra Ra Riot, Seasick Steve, Telepathe, Shearwater, Heartless Bastards, Flying Lotus, College Humor Live, Arj Barker, Eugene Mirman and Bo Burnham.
Saturday, August 1: Tool, My Bloody Valentine, Gogol Bordello, Arctic Monkeys, Neko Case, The Ting Tings, Yelle, Crystal Castles, St. Vincent, Tokyo Police Club, The Cool Kids, Kool Keith, Cage the Elephant, Chairlift, White Rabbits, Electric Touch, The Postelles, Black Gold, College Humor Live, Tim & Eric, Judah Friedlander and Jim Jeffries.
Sunday, August 2: Coldplay, Echo & The Bunnymen, MGMT, The Black Keys, Elbow, Silversun Pickups, Mogwai, We Are Scientists, Ghostland Observatory, The Gaslight Anthem, Etienne De Crecy, Lykke Li, Akron/Family, Steel Train, Kitty, Daisy & Lewis, College Humor Live, Janeane Garofalo, Michael Showalter and Todd Barry.
Also pretty terrible…

I’m still pretending I don’t know what Twitter is, but:

Hey, everyone!
I’ve found the worst thing ever!
One Lady Down

Steven Page (far right) has left the Barenaked Ladies, apparently for reasons tied to his cocaine arrest a while ago. He sang half the songs, and half of “One Week.” To compare BNL to a current Canadian rock group with two singers, imagine Spencer Krug leaving Dan Boeckner to run Wolf Parade on his own. Would Dan invite his wife Alexei into Wolf Parade, or would he invite the other 2-3 guys into Handsome Furs? Does Ed Robinson (center) even have his own side project that can now fold into BNL? Is BNL even still active? Are they selling millions of copies in Canada without us knowing? Did their Harrison Ford-like frantic Canadian lifestyle drive Steven to cocaine? Or did the cocaine drive the music? So many questions left unanswered.
MTV OH9!

Every year around this time MTV creates a website for their employees to list their favorite music from the last year, and this time future music moments. Here’s my entry, click the left or right arrows to see everyone else’s.

Am I the last guy to hear of him?
